...then we really would have been taught a poignant lesson by these two...
It is actually a really heartwarming story.

It made me think back to the love given to me by Rollei. For 13 years he was a faithful companion and showed the devotion that only a dog can muster. It is truly a gift.
Rollei is the "Uber-Beagle" on the right. He was a Beagle, Basset, Foxhound mix. I think it would be more appropriate to say he was a cross between a nose and a garbage can.
On the left was another of my wonderful friends. Annie was a Cocker Spaniel, Golden Retriever mix. I always joked that she had ADD... she could NEVER get enough attention.
Annie joined our "one dog" house and really shook things up for the dog of the house. But, when she passed away, Rollei mourned her for months. They didn't "hang out" together, but they went a lot of places together... they were brother and sister. "She's licking me!!"

WOW! That is a wonderful story. I must say that it occured to me that, in a way, it is kind of like our two countries. Being Candian and growing up in the shadow of the United States (and I have lived for a time in the US) can sometimes be a little intimidating, but we seem to stick together through thick and thin, good times and bad.
having a doggy that loves you! what a great thing that is! Having two that do is even better!
Rick - My wife found that video.
Marian - Don't you have any friends that are just amazingly different than you?
Patty - I agree.
