Looking Out From the Garage: The way it will go down...

The way it will go down...

These are my predictions for the next few years...

  • Obama is likely to be the next President.  He is only going to serve one term.  The race will tighten, but it won't come down to just one state like the last few elections.  McCain only have about a 1 in 5 chance of winning the election.  The popular vote will be in the 49-48-3 (the also rans) range.
  • Obama will announce that the country has spoken and this is the solid signal that the country needs a change.  The media won't speak up and declare that Obama only barely cleared half of the votes.
  • Early next year, Obama will announce his tax increase on "the wealthy", so taxes will go up for those making over $250k.  The economy will continue to slow.
  • Late next year, Obama will announce that because the Treasury is not getting as much revenue as expected, he will veto any attempts by the GOP to extend the Bush tax cuts.  This will effectively raise taxes for EVERYONE that pays taxes for 2011.  The economy will continue to slow.
  • Despite the fact that none of the things that Obama pointed to as increasing revenues for the government actually increase revenues, he will continue to roll out as much of his $1.3trillion in new programs as he can get through Congress... and Pelosi and Reid are cool with it.  Look for a lot of party line votes, attempted GOP filibusters and continued economic slowing.
  • After the first two years, the Congress will shift toward more Republicans.  Pelosi and Reid will be replaced, and the House might actually fall under GOP control, but the Senate will remain in Democrat hands.
  • After almost 4 years in the White House, and no economic recovery, Obama will face off against Fred Thompson for the 2012 Presidential Race.  Thompson's running mate will be Sarah Palin...
  • In 2012, the GOP will stage a new Republican Revolution and the gain control of both houses of Congress.  But much damage will have been done.
  • In just 4 years, the federal debt will have gone from $10trillion to $15trillion.  In other words, in 4 years, Obama will have created as much debt as Bush did in 8 years.  He will claim it was all Bush's fault.  When Thompson points out in the first debate that Bush inherited Clintons recession (which actually met the definition of a recession), he had turned the country around in less than 4 years... even with 9/11.
  • Regardless of what is actually happening, the NAR will announce quarterly that real estate is well on its way to recovering and that NOW is the time to buy...

Am I positive?  On a few of these, yes I am.  Some are just for fun.

You decide....

LOL. LOL. LOL! to the end comment.  But the rest is possible.  Here in MA, however, there are more McCain/Palin signs popping up and more quiet talk about the problems the D team has done and will probably do.

Hey, Lane. Lets hope that McCain can pull out a Reagan victory and surprise us all. But if not, I think you hit the nail on the head. Take Care, Jim

WOW!!!  Your outlook for the next 8 years means I need to find a new career!  I hope you are wrong on at least 95% of what you predict.

Lane ~ I sure hope you are wrong. I will never give up, i WILL NEVER SURRENDER. i will fight him in the trenches, I will fight him on the seas, whatever it takes, I will fight this socialist from Chicago.

Heath - The NAR comment is the one I am MOST sure of...

Jim - Could happen.  But, Barrack is good in a debate.  He may not have facts and history on his side, but he does have the media, so they won't report what he gets wrong.

GULF - Real estate will survive.  The top people will also survive.  Just not as well...

Nicholas - I hope I am wrong, too.  And I won't give up.

Pain - pain and sorrow - that's about all we can expect from the Socialists!

I think that you are dead on - other than Fred Thompson running again.  All of the rest is quite plausible.  Great post!

Lane, those are some scary thoughts.  Of course all of this can be avoided just by making sure we do not elect Obama.  Let's hope there's a good showing in the debate tonight.

Unfortunately I'm greatly distressed because chances are we will have the most liberal/socialist government we have had in my lifetime and that causes me some concern. The best news is I am 50 so when they screw it up I won't have that long to suffer in it. We will have a president who honestly is neither qualified nor worthy if Obama is elected. Not that I'm a fan of JM but definitely the better man/team for the job. Number three will further devastate the rising unemployment numbers - folks don't realize that a $5k tax increase on a small business owner means 1 less employee or just plain old $5k less to place into the market.

Obama is absolutely the media's choice. They have chosen the most liberal candidate election after election and it looks like they'll get their wish: liberal Executive and Legislative branches. Let me pose this question: Who is going to become the next Hank Paulson?

Ladies and gentlemen, like it or not, agree to it or not, welcome to the Marxist Republic of Socialized America. They told us in grade school by the end of our lives we would live in a social republic. It appears they were right. Toilet paper anyone?

Joan - But we will be able to go to the doctor for free... ok, taxes will go up to pay for it, but it seems free...

Bob - I picked Fred on a whim.  He could do it... probably wouldn't.  But, the reason I picked him is twofold.  First, the President in Atlas Shrugged is Thompson, and secondly, I think he could out-debate the crap out of Obama if he put his mind to it.  When he is on, he is an amazing speaker.

Brian - I think that McCain is up against impossible odds.  If he attacks, the big media will paint him as mean.  If he doesn't they will paint him as weak.  Personally, I think there is a way to do it, but I don't think it would fit within the time constraints that I am sure will exist...

Ken - The one thing that I think will be a result is that after a few years of unified Democrat rule, if the left wing of the party gets their way, the democrats may become a third party...

I'm guessing this isn't a Pro-Obama crowd?

Time is the only teller, my friends:-)

Good Lord man.... you're giving me a headache. Sadly, a good part of this is certain to come to pass if we don't win the election in November. Sheesh.  It's time to retire and move onto the boat.

Lane - There is no doubt about your economic predictions, but I also think whoever wins will be a one term president.  The media will be so ticked if McCain wins (after all the effort they put into the manchild) they will tear McCain to shreads from day one - like they've done to Bush, but on steroids.

Jason - I'm of the opinion that there shouldn't BE a pro-Obama crowd.  But I digress.  If there was a Republican that had the same history, he would be shredded by the media.  Case in point, David Duke and Senator Byrd of WV.  Duke was shredded (rightly so) for being a past member of the KKK.  Sen. Byrd had been a Grand Master... and one has to dig deep to find references now.

But my point is that I think that the media just needs to look at Obama with the same critical eye they have used on Sarah Palin.

And I still love you, man...  regardless of your affiliation.  BTW, I'm not inferring you are pro-Obama or not... you just gave me the opportunity to vent.

Jesse - You're up in the frozen north, right?  Is Palin who the media says she is?

Susan - I think that they would have a hard time if McCain wins... if he turns the economy...
