The new year is always a time we make resolutions. They are all but inevitable...
- Lose weight
- Quit smoking
- Eat better
- Spend more time with the kids
- Get a better job
- Finally go on a vacation
You get the idea... But those are all introverted.
What about doing something completely different... volunteer!
There are a LOT of kids that need great role models. Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Church Youth Groups... again, you get the idea. Give a little money and a lot of time. It isn't tough, and you can bet that the kids will really appreciate it. YOU have experiences that they would love to learn about...

Thanks, Lane! I'm going to volunteer to make more appearances in my own Life...sort of like taking the bull by the horns. All the best to you in 2011!
Lane,
The volunteer work I do with Royal Rangers is some of the most rewarding stuff I do. Sometimes it does not seem like you are doing much good and you feel just caught up in a cycle, but then you back up and see what you have done long term and it does make a difference.
Lane - I quit smoking every year, its my only successful resolution, but that's probably because I really quit about 21 years ago. Volunteering, a terrific idea for the new year. glad you brought it up.
Lane you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT Sometimes I think I am a professional volunterr, but it makes life so much more meaningful
Lane,
Volunteering is a great way to connect with others and provide meaningful service. :)

Mara - Our own lives are too important to leave to the understudies.
Gene - I love the "work" I get to do with the Cub Scouts and JA. My business is a wonderful thing, and quite fulfilling, but it doesn't have to stop there.
Mike - I know that you have a lot of offer...
Hugh - Someone has to do it...
Steve - Absolutely.
Lane,
Congratulations. This post is now featured on "Celebrating Free Enterprise." :)
