A couple of years ago I wrote a post about my wish list for garages. This stuff isn’t rocket science, but it also seems to escape most builders… There are a few out there that hit a few of these things, but it is a rarity to see a garage in a newer home that has all of these touches.
I’ve actually written a lot of posts about making garages better, both for builders and renovators. (Keep in mind that I’m not a builder… I’m a user. I USE my garage, like many of my clients).
So, take a look and let me know what you think.

Hi Lane~ My husband would agree totally. I just want them to build them bigger so you can get in and out of each car and fit more than just your cars in there!
Thank you for posting those articles, I found them to be extremely helpful.
I certainly wouldn't mind the option of a pit in one of the bays for changing oil and transmissions. But more than one 220 volt outlet would be wonderful.

Lane - I wish more homes had built in storage cabinetry and tool organizers so that more sellers would have their garages a bit more organized.
Vickie - By "more that just cars", I assume you mean tools, right? Now household stuff or yard junk... ;^ )
Todd - The problem with pits is heavier than air gases and ventilation... Lifts are cooler...
Sam - There are a lot of builders missing the boat by not offering cabinetry as an upgrade...
Lane - I am doing some updates to my 30 x 90 garage / hot rod shop. New bath, real estate workspace so I can do a little multi tasking in the shop, new extra tall garage door and a new automotive lift system are in the works. Fun times ahead and I will be sure to post some photos as the transformation starts taking place.
