Looking Out From the Garage: Cool Toys... I mean REALLY Cool Toys...

Cool Toys... I mean REALLY Cool Toys...

Where was this junk when I was a kid younger kid?

Cracked.com had a great story on the amped up versions of the toys we had as kids.  And while I have a 4 year old and find myslef wandering through toy stores ("Dad, can I have a radio controlled car like that?" "Not yet Son... I mean I could get it, but you aren't old enough to play with it yet..." "Dad, can I play with my car now?" "I told you Son... you aren't big enough yet.  Give it a couple of years." "Years") I hadn't been paying enough attention to notice some of these...

Kids just don't realize how COOL some of this stuff is...  When we were kids we played with sticks and thought they were fun.  Now kids have belt-fed nerf guns...

So, if you want to see some seriously worked over toys...  Take a look.  One warning... This isn't a read for your kids.  Language is NOT restrained.

When my daughter was a toddler, she had every toy under the sun, and she wanted to play with Mason jar rings and pots and pans.  They do have some amazing toys these days!

Lane

I think some of those are pretty cool. Is that a G5 in the picture?

Sincerely

Tom

Bring back the Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets; Girder & Panel, and Lego's that only had red or white bricks and never quite enough doors or windows.  We didn't need batteries back then.

My 12 year old Grandson is coming up this week and it's his birthday. I'm sure I will be introduced to several options for him.

Sherry - Mine both like boxes...

Tom - It is a toy!  An amazing jet powered radio control plane.

Jim - I am instilling a love for legos in my son... but I want a belt-fed nerf gun.  Mainly to keep my wife in line.

Sally & David - Now you can get an electronic pet that doesn't make messes... but also doesn't pick up any food dropped by small kids.

Mike - Don't forget the Nerf sniper rifle...

Terry - Go for the plane...
