Looking Out From the Garage

Are you using Xobni for Outlook?

I just downloaded it today, and it is pretty slick.

Basically, it is a search utility for Outlook 2003 and 2007. I'm running 2003, so I can speak to its functionality with that version.

After downloading the program, and installing it, you will notice a new box on the right side of your Outlook screen. The first time it is going to spend a little while wandering through your email looking at the content and the addressees. After that, it looks at the new stuff as it comes in.

So, what does it do?

It searches your email for information. If you are looking for something in particular, type it in the search bar. I typed "flyer". As I typed it, Xobni gave two types of results. The first one was email addresses that contained the word, and the second was the appearance of the word in email. Clicking on either brings up the content.

I used it to find the email for a friend that I hadn't sent or received an email from in several months. I have hundreds of mails in my folder... and I was able to come up with the last one in a matter of moments... as well as both of his daughters (all of them were copied on a mail together, so they are associated).

Anything else?

As a matter of fact, yes... Do you know who you get the most emails from? Or who you send the most to? Or when you are active? Or how long it takes you to respond? The analytics function can answer those questions...

And best of all... it's free...

Two options... Visit them directly, or through my del.icio.us profile.
