I
f you aren't you should be... It is simply a better browser...
I know, I know. Your MLS doesn't work on it, and the franchise you are part of doesn't support it. Well... there are two points you need to know.
- There isn't a reason in the world you can't have two (or more) browsers installed on your computer. I have three that I use regularly. I use FireFox for almost everything except my MLS. I use Internet Explorer to access the MLS. I use Safari to check my sites for compatibility.
- More sites are going to be compatible with FireFox... even the MLS. There is a standard for browsers... and Internet Explorer isn't actually compliant with it, at least not versions before IE8. Since IE has come out with IE8, designers have had to start the process of bringing their sites into W3 compliance... and FireFox IS compliant with the standards.
In fact, the sites that aren't compatible with FireFox are generally not compatible with Internet Explorer 8. IE will function on them, but it has to be set to compatibility mode.
But that doesn't mean they are the same!
FireFox has a GIANT advantage over everything else... the user community. More specifically the 3rd party applications that the user community has built for FireFox. From LinkedIn to de.licio.us and scores of other sites, there are plug-ins to make the browsing experience more fun or productive. Clip tools, Twitter tools and website builder tools... diagnostic tools, too.
And Active|Rain works better on FireFox, too...
We are the elite of technologists in the real estate world. We are the bloggers and the generally "techno-forward" agents and vendors... Shouldn't we also be the ones that are using the right tools?
So, if you aren't using FireFox, you should be...
