Mike Mueller wrote a great post about using Google Reader to streamline time spent reading other blogger's posts each day. I have been using Google Reader for a few weeks, and think it is a great tool. But, I just stumbled upon something else yesterday.
Well, in my daily blog reading I came across another free solution... NewsGator's FeedDemon. Apparently it was a paid program to aggregate blog content into a reader, but they have just made it free. Actually, they have made several different consumer products free. They also include a mobile version of a their feed reader, as well as an Outlook solution.
The biggest benefit (and I haven't checked it out) is that all of the different application will sync, so if you read posts on one platform and then sign into another platform, you can sync up the different platform so that you don't have to mark a bunch of stuff read before getting to the new content.
One of the things that FeedDemon does that I didn't notice available in Google reader is to play video feeds without leaving the reader. The Reader is also a browser (and supports tabs). Of course, there are options for NewsGator to recommend new feeds, and a cool clipping feature which is great for bloggers while assembling material for blog posts.
Enjoy.
Sorry I couldn't put together as cool of a presentation as Mike's.
