So, Garrett the amazing three year old (I can say that for less than two more months) was looking through the car keys on the key hook this evening. He got to my Jeep key...
"Where is the door opener?"
"There isn't one... I use the key."
"Did you lose it?"
"No. The Jeep doesn't have electric locks. I put the key in the door and turn it."
"No, really. How do you unlock the door?"
"I turn the key."
"That is how you start it. You are supposed to hit a button to unlock it."
And I started to think. We have three cars here. My in-laws have three cars. My Mom and Step-Father have two. And ALL of those cars have electric locks with a key fob to unlock them. I don't know that he has ever seen anyone put a key in the lock and turn it...
There is an email going around that talks about kids graduating college now have never seen a TV with a dial to change channels or a typewriter. But, this was just a little closer to home...
