I had a thought (always a danger sign, according to my wife!)...
Practically every real estate agent in the country is number one... #1... in something.
And then, I see in the results of the Westminster Kennel Club Show that for the first time ever (and they had 130 chances before this year), a beagle has won the top honors.
It's about time.
For over 100 years, beagles have been in the top three most popular dogs. And they are everywhere. The beagle is an "Everydog", that icon of normality. To have a beagle, one doesn't need to be royalty, rich, or even have a home. They aren't exotic or rare. In fact, for many people, when they think of a dog, the beagle comes to mind pretty quickly.
They have all of the features people seem to want. They are good natured, playful, and smart. They like to hang out, or go for a jog... especially in the woods. They are low maintenance, but have a high return. Beagles are pretty safe with the kids, but they are courageous.
And they are so flippin' cute, too.
So, there is Uno winning his group...
So, real estate... oh yea...
Uno really is Numero Uno. He is now officially the top dog. As normal as he may seem, he is an exceptional dog. Like many of the best real estate agents, he isn't screaming it from the roof-top. He doesn't have to. He won't tell you he's number one. He'll just keep doing what he did to get there.
So, I'm stretching a little... because I really like beagles, and couldn't let the opportunity pass...
