Today, I passed a milestone of which I'm pretty proud. Yesterday, I made my 250th post... but there is something else that is more important in my blogging world here on A/R... and I have never seen this number mentioned... so, I will mention it.
2000
I have made over 2000 comments. Frankly, I haven't noticed whether this counts the comments I've made on my own blog, answering those that have blessed me with a comment, but I try to combine and minimize those. And, frankly, I'm not one of those bloggers here that gets 84 comments every time I post, so I don't have to answer as much as Jessica Horton, or Bryant Tutas. (I just looked, and I average around 5.6 incoming comments/post)
The point is that I pride myself in trying hard to read lots of blogs (here and elsewhere), and commenting as much as I can. I'll admit that the points help, but I don't get any points for Bloodhound Blog comments, or Jay Thompson's Phoenix Real Estate Blog... or Gotta Be Mobile... or Seth's Blog... you get the idea. There are a lot of great voices out there, and there is plenty to learn, and I for one know that I have a LOT more to learn than I have to teach.
Another great benefit of commenting on other people's posts is that it is what creates community. How many of us have outside blogs that hardly ever get a comment? I know that I do. If it weren't for the emails and phone calls, I'd almost think I was sitting around talking to myself. But, A/R is different.
So, take a few moments, and make a meaningful comment on someone's blog. Get the points (consider them a nice bonus), but make sure that you aren't just tossing in a "Great Post" for the points sake. Read great blogs, and make great comments.
The pictures are just gratuitous shots, and the video as well... But, they are fun...
